Ten months old and there is no stopping this baby! Shasta is your stereotypical baby boy – just on the go ALL the time! He’s so much fun and just so darn cute. He can wave now, and point, which he does a lot of. I tried doing his 10 month photos outside but it was really difficult ’cause he’d just crawl out of the guitar case and go try to eat a leaf or something. It’s funny, I couldn’t wait for summer to come so that we could just relax on the deck together, but it turns out it’s quite a bit of work to watch his every move and make sure he doesn’t inhale anything. Still fun though… he loves to crawl from one end of the deck to the other and explore everything he possibly can.
So other than pointing and waving, let me see what else I can update you on… he can’t stand alone yet, but I don’t think it’ll be too long before he can! He’s a very strong baby. When I’m holding him and he wants to go on the floor, he basically throws himself out of my arms (I’m surprised there haven’t been any injuries…). He HATES having his diaper changed and it is a big effort every time I change him. To put a new diaper on I have to stand him up and do it that way because he just squirms and fusses and… *sigh*. It is a challenge!! Oh, he also bites a lot, which obviously I am trying to discourage. If anyone has any tips or methods, PLEASE feel free to share them in the comments below!! Oh, and he can flush the toilet. I’m just trying to train him to do it only when mommy says. Don’t want to waste any water, right Mom?

Again Lindsay, these are some amazing pictures. I love your lighting inside. I am glad I am not the only one who struggles with diaper changes. I also do the standing change.

Heh, I am of the general opinion that it is healthy for kids to eat dirt and leaves and stuff. I read this paper once in undergrad about how allergies and asthma are inversely related to parasite load, so if your kid has intestinal worms he’ll actually be healthier… hrm, once I write it down like that it sounds less reassuring, doesn’t it? Sounds as if your kid will be more than ready for toilet training when the time comes. I babysat a kid once who went crazy for flushing the toilet too. She was three, I think? Luckily her other passion was pretending to wash the dishes. I just had to try to keep her from guzzling the dish soap.
I will ask my friends for biting tips. Sounds as if you have your hands full 🙂

HI Mary, funny you should say that because after I wrote that post I spoke to my Dad on the phone and I asked him if it was harmful to consume leaves, etc, and he said it was fine, so I decided to just let him eat leaves! No rocks though. Rocks are not healthy.
