About

feb 21 (7 of 9) brihtHello!  Welcome to my little corner of the internet.

That’s me circa 1993.  Around that time my parents gave me a Polaroid camera, and that was the beginning of my journey as a photographer.

I have always loved taking pictures, but didn’t get into it seriously until I spent a summer in England.  I remember getting off the plane, looking around London and thinking, “I need a camera right now!” I just bought a little point and shoot, but it made me realise that I loved capturing a great expression or nature in an artistic way.  I have learned 95% of everything I know about photography from the internet!  It’s been such a fun journey and I am always, always learning new things.  I started taking portraits professionally around 2012.  I had no idea what I was doing, except that it was fun.  I am still figuring out exactly what I want to do with my skill/passion – lately I have been veering away from portrait sessions and more onto the documentary side of things.  I’m just following my heart and seeing where it takes me!

I was born and raised in southern Ontario, Canada, but after leaving the nest I spent four years in New Brunswick for my undergrad degree at Mount Allison University, a year in South Africa with Youth With A Mission, and then four and a half years in the Yukon doing a whole bunch of different things, including practicing my photo sessions!  In 2014 we moved south to my husband’s hometown of Florianópolis, Brazil.  I absolutely love it although there are many challenges that come along with living abroad.

Here on the blog I post my photos, favourite resources and helpful tips with you. I really want to share what I’ve learned so you can improve your photography.  I LOVE connecting with and helping people.  Let me know how I can serve you best.  If you have a question about photography, living abroad, or anything else I post about, contact me.  I read every comment.

Photography is just one of my many interests, and I share other things too: healthy recipes(especially desserts), about music, books, living abroad, and other fabulous subjects I come across.
