The Most Important Thing #4: Maria Carol

Meet my gorgeous(on the inside and out) sister-in-law!  I’ve had the opportunity of living with Carol and her son, Kalani, for the last two months and it has been one of the best things about my time in Brazil.  She is kind, generous, hospitable and talented.

She was also incredibly easy to take pictures of, for not only is she physically stunning, but she didn’t need much direction about how to smile or look at the camera.  Some people are just naturals.  I like photographing people like that, but also people who do need direction because it helps me to grow and learn as a photographer.

So, on with the show!  Here’s Carol.

What do you believe is the most important thing in life?

Motherhood gave me the opportunity to actually experience infinite love. Being able to teach my son and also to learn from him, share moments like the first day at school, the first words, the “why´s” – are priceless. There’s no feeling in the world like waking up every morning and having him saying: “Mom, can I give you a hug?” – I’m truly blessed.

Lauryn Hill says it, beautifully, in one of her songs: “And I thank you for choosing me/to come through unto life to be/A beautiful reflection of His grace/See I know that a gift so great is only one God could create / And I’m reminded every time I see your face”
