The Most Important Thing #1: Lori

Well, it took a little longer than I’d hoped, but now we’ve got the ball rolling!  Thank you to Lori, who has been a very dear friend of mine since we started elementary school.  I took this picture of Lori and her daughter this past October.

Age: 27

Occupation: Stay at home mother of two

Nationality: Canadian (Dutch background)

Belief System: Christian

ImageWhat do you believe is the most important thing in life?

I think this question can only be answered after the question ” Do you believe in God?” has been asked. Because God makes all the difference. Knowing Him changes the meaning to so many words like truth, death, morality and love, just to name a few.  If you don’t believe in God, there isn’t much meaning to your life, other than your own wants, desires and achievements. When God enters the picture, you no longer live for yourself, you live for God. And I believe that is the reason we were all created- because God has a plan for each of our lives. He gives us free will of course, to live how we want, but because of His great love He has for each of us, He hopes we will live in relationship with Him. I’ve heard from many people that they think being a Christian is too hard to do. It’s boring, hypocritical, unfufilling and not fun. On the contrary, living for Christ is THE most fufilling life one can live!  I’m sure you’re aware of the consequences of sin- death, betrayal, theft, lies, sickness and disease, immorality, natural disasters, and many more things. Now think about going through these experiences without the hope of Christ! Imagine thinking that this is it! There’s nothing more to life than what’s on earth. Being a Christian doesn’t sheild you from experiencing the consequences of sin- we’re all sinners- but it does give you hope and helps you to live through life with a knowledge that one day this world of sin will be gone and we’ll live in a new world of perfection.

God never leaves us. He never stops loving and caring for us. He is the greatest teacher, Father, friend and lover. When you seek Him, you will find Him, and there’s no better thing on earth than that!

This is such an amazing project, Lindsay, and Lori, your response was so wise and thought-provoking. I don’t have a lot of friends with whom I can talk about my faith, and it makes me feel strengthened and refreshed to be able to share it with people, so thank you.
