June 9th, 2010 was the day the immigration centre in Vegreville, Alberta received our work permit/permanent residency application. We’ve been checking their website pretty regularly in the last few months to see if they’ve started working on ours yet. Last night we checked again, and found out that they’re working on applications received on June 6th, 2010. Whooooaaaa! We’re getting there. It might only be a week or two until we find out if we’re staying put or headin’ out.
It’s funny because for so long, it’s just been this thing we’ve been “waiting for” – I can’t count how many times we’ve told people, “no, we haven’t heard back from immigration yet, but probably in the next couple of months…” it’s always been something that will happen “sometime in the near future”… and now it’s really happening!
I’m not really sure how I feel about all of this. I’m kind of excited that the waiting will finally(hopefully) be over – at least for this first step – but at the same time, it’s a bit unnerving because if they say “no” to our request and Nuni’s not legally allowed to be in Canada anymore, it will basically turn our life upside down. Which is fine. Honestly, one thing I am sure about is that I know God has the best in store for us, and He’ll help us through whatever life throws our way. I’d be so happy to stay here, and so happy to go to Brazil(of course, that will open up a whole new immigration story…). Or anywhere. It’s just the logistics that stress me out. The planning, the packing, the moving… sometimes I think about it as I walk around the house. But then I have to stop myself, because it’s pointless to worry about it, especially when we don’t know the outcome yet!
Anyways, I just thought I’d share what’s going on with that right now. Please keep us in your prayers in the next few weeks – not that our application will be accepted – just that God’s will will be done and we will trust Him no matter what happens.
Thanks! 🙂 We’ll keep you updated…
